Job Summary
The Entry-Level Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting operations of the community bank by assisting with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in banking and financial services accounting.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with daily and monthly general ledger postings and journal entries

Perform routine account and bank reconciliations under supervision

Help maintain accurate records for deposits, loans, and interest income

Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and internal reports

Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements

Help gather documentation for internal and external audits

Monitor accounts for discrepancies and assist in resolving variances

Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation

Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes

Learn and follow GAAP, bank policies, and internal control procedures
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in progress)

Internship or part-time accounting experience preferred but not required

Interest in banking or financial services strongly preferred

Basic understanding of accounting principles

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Willingness to learn banking regulations and accounting practices

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software
