POSITION REPORTS TO: Fleet Management Supervisor
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None EMPLOYEE CLASS: AFSCME
BLS COMPARABLE: 43-5081.03, Stock Clerks- Stockroom, Warehouse or Storage Yard

Leadership: Provides co-worker leadership to others through motivation, team building, and providing feedback.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic Word & Excel skills
  • Keyboarding 35 wpm.

POSITION PURPOSE: To be a good steward of the public funds through administrative support, delivery, and storage of quality goods.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Receive and count stock items and upload to the inventory system. Issues warehouse stock.
  • Assist Fleet Inventory Tech to segregate auction items by lots. Issues proper lots to customers when auction is complete; and assist customers with forklift to load purchased items.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses or storage yards.
  • Manually load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, platforms, vehicles, or lifting devices.
  • Drive city vehicle 1 to 2 times daily to pick up parts from supply stores that do not deliver.
  • Utilize a forklift and pallet jack to load, organize, and distribute materials throughout the warehouse.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms and other areas.
  • Serve as the department safety representative. Conducts monthly safety inspections of premises, corrects discrepancies. Schedules and conducts tool box safety meetings for the department.
  • Maintains the vehicle pre-trip program to ensure inspections are properly performed and documented.
  • Validates daily preventive maintenance data to ensure proper supplied are recorded in software system.
  • Pickups and distributes daily incoming mail. Orders office supplies.
  • Uploads employee data to the fuel system and resolves discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintains tool and parts room, and ensures it is clean and orderly. Delivers preventive maintenance supplies (oil filters) to the Service Station weekly.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Removes damaged equipment decals when needed.
  • Assist the Fleet Inventory Technician during the warehouse annual inventory.
  • Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Forklift Training (within 1 month).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Computers - Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to use a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail.
  • Good communications and public relations abilities.
  • Good computer application skills.
  • Keyboarding 35 wpm minimum.
  • Ability to assist and support others.
  • Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

FINGER DEXTERITY:
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.

VISUAL ABILITIES:
Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
PDC Level: Medium
Employee lifts/carries 50 lbs. occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times per day). Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature. Occasional overhead reaching, climbing, squatting, and kneeling.

LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY:
Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding and subtracting two-digit numbers, multiplying and dividing. Ability to perform these operations using units of money and weight or distance measurement.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:
Regular – 8-hour shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Overtime required during annual inventory.
Other–Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other office personnel.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned shop setting with adequate ventilation. Occasional outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions.

Noise level:
Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic, vehicle noise).

Other work conditions:
Occasional work near moving mechanical parts.

ADVANCEMENT CRITERIA:

INTERMEDIATE

4-6 years’ experience.

Additional coursework or training in related field.

Proficient in Excel and Great Plains Software.

Ability to fill in for Inventory Technician for short periods of time.

Ability to teach safety training.

Valid CPR certification.

ADVANCED

7+ years’ experience.

Associate's degree or equivalent in related field.

APICS Certification.

Ability to fill in for Inventory Technician for extended periods of time.

Advanced knowledge of safety.
