POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Aviation
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None.

LEADERSHIP: Provides co-worker leadership to others through motivation, team building, and providing feedback.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Subject to post offer, pre-employment drug screen.
  • Subject to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
  • As a position directly affecting the safety of others, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of City of Enid’s substance abuse policy, including random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Subject to a pre-employment criminal background check.
POSITION PURPOSE: To present positive customer service relations and ensure compliance with FAA regulations and City of Enid ordinances for general public and aviation customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Operate mowers to conduct seasonal mowing of grounds.
  • Perform minor vehicle and equipment repairs such as changing filters, hoses, etc.
  • Provide general maintenance for hangars and terminal building, to include daily janitorial duties.
  • Meet aircraft, guide aircraft to parking spots or hangars, and secure with chocks and tiedowns. Provide excellent customer service to airport customers.
  • Change bulbs and maintain signage along taxiways and runways and service airport beacon on a biannual basis.
  • Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • The Airport runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service is provided to airport customers.
  • Airport grounds and equipment are clean and adequately maintained.
  • Effective working relations exist with City personnel.
  • New employees are well trained and assisted. Management is appropriately informed.
  • Employee understands and adheres to applicable safety policies.
  • The City’s professional reputation is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Specialized – Basic construction and repair knowledge.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle.
  • Ability to operate a mower, and other equipment.
  • Ability to operate a calculator, cash register, and credit card machine.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail.
  • Good communications and public relations abilities.
  • Basic typing and computer application skills.
  • Ability to assist and support others.
  • Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
FINGER DEXTERITY:
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.

VISUAL ABILITIES:
Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
PDC Level: Medium, Employee lifts/carries 50 lbs occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times per day). Ability to walk on uneven ground for extended periods of time. Ability to step up and down from a 16" platform.

LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, or schedule form.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:
8-hour shifts, typically 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
Weekends on occasional basis.
Seasonal position: Employment will not exceed four months in a 12-month period.
Other: Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other office personnel.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)

NOISE LEVEL:
Very loud, extreme noise hazards. Hearing protection required.

OTHER WORK CONDITIONS:
Exposure to Avgas and jet fuel fumes as well as other air contaminants and highly flammable substances. Work near moving mechanical parts. Some exposure to limited heights.
