The Accountant works in cooperation with the finance department to promote the mission of the health center by assisting with quality relationships between the organization and its vendors, patients, payers, auditors, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting experience
• Proficiency in data entry, Excel, word processing, and typing required
• Ability to prioritize tasks required.
• Knowledge in accounting practices
• Ability to organize, communicate and perform detailed functions required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists accounting department with departmental functions including, but not limited to:

• Update the general ledger by recording daily financial transactions
• Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation for all entries
• Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other general ledger accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in accounts while maintaining detailed workpapers
• Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis
• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, financial projections and analyzing variances between actual and budgeted results when necessary
• Ensure accurate financial reporting by completing tasks within established deadlines
• Assist in the month-end and year-end close process by preparing adjusting entries, reconciliations, variance analysis and supporting schedules
• Assist with the gathering of information for internal & external audits and cost reporting information
• Remains vigilant in ensuring internal controls are adequate, assisting with segregation of duties when necessary
• Works independently and as part of a team, able to backup other finance positions with necessary
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
