I. TITLE OF POSITION: 340B Coordinator and Inventory Specialist
II. NATURE OF POSITION: The 340B Coordinator and Inventory Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily 340B program operations, compliance monitoring, pharmacy purchasing and inventory management. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements. This role will collaborate closely with the Director of Pharmacy and other leaders to optimize the 340B program and maintain compliant inventory and purchasing practices.
III. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Licensed pharmacy technician.
B. Minimum of (3) years of experience in pharmacy operations, 340B operations, inventory management, or related healthcare operations.
C. Experience with pharmacy purchasing systems, pharmacy software, wholesaler systems, and inventory management processes preferred.
D. Strong knowledge of or a willingness to learn:
• HRSA/OPA 340B requirements
• Pharmacy inventory management principles
• DSCSA requirements
• Pharmacy purchasing operations
• Audit and compliance processes
• Pharmacy reimbursement and billing
E. Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
F. Apexus Certified Expert certification or willingness to obtain preferred.
IV. SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
V. RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Pharmacy
VI. RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Serve as a subject matter expert for all 340B program operations, compliance, purchasing, and inventory activities.
B. Oversee 340B program integrity, policies, procedures, audits, reporting, and pharmacy inventory management.
C. Collaborate with the Director of Pharmacy and other leadership to ensure compliant program operations.
D. Monitor regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance with HRSA, OPA, Medicaid, and DSCSA requirements.
E. Maintain current 340B and pharmacy inventory policies and procedures.
F. Provide staff education and training related to 340B compliance, purchasing, inventory management, and audit readiness.
G. Communicate regulatory updates and operational changes to appropriate staff.
H. Coordinate and conduct internal and external 340B audits for purchasing,
utilization, Medicaid, and inventory management.
I. Maintain audit readiness and implement corrective action plans as needed.
J. Monitor patient, provider, and site eligibility to prevent diversion and duplicate discounts.
K. Ensure accurate OPAIS records, registrations, and annual recertification.
L. Assists with overseeing inventory control processes.
M. Monitors internal and external inventory levels, wholesaler pricing, shortages, and purchasing trends.
N. Conducts inventory audits, cycle counts, and system reviews to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
