Title: Truck Driver/Forklift Operator
Supervisor: Director of Employment Ministries
Hours: As required to meet directive — Minimum 35 hours per week
Evenings, Saturdays, and seasonal workload flexibility required
Responsible for operating a donation pickup truck, transporting items between locations, and supporting warehouse and retail operations for Hope Outreach. This role includes donation pickups, delivery runs and assisting with processing and floor preparation while maintaining a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
· Operates donation pickup truck for scheduled routes and errands
· Pick up donations from homes, businesses, and drop-off sites
· Complete purchase deliveries and drop-offs
· Load, unload, and secure all transported items properly
· Transport merchandise between store and warehouses
· Perform trash and scrap removal runs
· Conduct basic vehicle checks (fluids, tires, lights, fuel)
· Maintain cleanliness of truck, warehouse, and other work areas
· Maintain efficient routes and time management to ensure timely pickups
and deliveries. & Ability to navigate routes and follow GPS/delivery
instructions together
· Maintain knowledge of truck routes and access limitations to ensure safe
and efficient navigation, including awareness of locations the truck cannot
safely enter or access.
· Report vehicle, forklift, or equipment issues immediately to leadership.
· Work closely and communicate effectively in a two-person team
environment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
· Take ownership of recycled clothing and organize clothing bales and trailer
items for proper storage and transport.
· Follow daily schedules, and task assignments accurately
· Operate forklift and baler safely
· Assist with warehouse or receiving & processing when assigned
· Assist with staging and positioning large donations on the retail floor for
display
· Assist customers with loading purchased items in their vehicle
· Follow all safety procedures for driving, lifting, and equipment use
· Provide respectful, professional interaction with donors and staff
· Follows all General Worker job descriptions and other duties assigned by
the Leadership
Physical / Environmental Requirements
· Must have and maintain a driver’s license and clean driving record
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts
· Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting of merchandise
· Lifting and moving large or heavy items, such as furniture, safely and
efficiently
· Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout entire shift,
including loading, unloading, and continuous movement
· Operating store equipment and tools in accordance with safety guidelines
· Become forklift certified and operate as needed
· Trains on and safely operates baler equipment as needed
· Ability to operate a pallet jack safely
· Ability to work in a fast-paced retail/warehouse environment with
occasional exposure to varying temperatures
Skills / Competencies
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
· Basic math skills for pricing and cash handling
Personal Qualifications:
· Must be a self-starter and possess motivational skills
· Must be dependable and responsible person of integrity who leads by
example
· Retail, warehouse, or supervisory experience is a plus
· Actively involved in local denomination
· Follows scriptural standards of behavior
