Bakery Service Associate and Cake Decorator
Summary/Objective: A Bakery Clerk is devoted to ensuring proper freshness and presentation of our Bakery products. A Bakery Clerk is responsible for selling products while offering consistent high quality customer service.
Reports to: Supervisor
Essential Functions: • All areas of customer satisfaction and service, including not limited to, responding to customer requests, questions and complaints. • Working and communicating successfully with all levels of customers, management and fellow employees. • Abides by all state and federal regulations including food safety. • Attends to all customer needs and moving from stocking, sacking and carrying out as needed as well as directing or talking to customers regarding items in question. • Unload product from delivery trucks. • Stocking merchandise accurately and between code tags on the shelf, making sure stock is accurately priced, signed, rotated, and tagged as assigned and required by management. • Ordering merchandise and controlling backstock. • Requesting and verifying receiving credits for merchandise -that is damaged and/or short on delivery. • Makes sure the bakery is clean and orderly, properly stocked, priced, signed, tagged and rotated. • Assists customers with carry out if needed or requested. • Knowledge of all equipment in the bakery department, including slicers, oven, kitchen equipment, kitchen appliances, pallet jack, box knives, order machines, box bailer (all to be used by employees 18 years of age or older with proper training), calculators, adding machines, service carts, telephone and FM unit.
Competencies: • Good oral communication skills • Leadership Skills - Creating a positive atmosphere for all employees and customers • Basic math skills • Ability to work quickly, accurately and independently in an efficient manner • Basic knowledge of cleaning products used, MSDS requirements and lockout tag out procedures • Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Work Environment: Retail Bakery Department. Includes standing and walking during a 8 hour work-shift.
Physical Demands: • This position requires standing 4 hours or more each day • Walking 6 hours or more each day • Working in temperatures ranging from less than 15 degrees Fahrenheit to room temperature. • Carrying product up to 10 pounds frequently, carrying product 11 to 70 pounds occasionally • lifting product up to 10 pounds frequently, lifting product 11 to 70 pounds occasionally • Repetitive actions such as simple grasping and fine manipulation • Maintain head and neck in static position with frequent flexing and frequent rotation recommended
Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent
