Description

Assists the Foundry Engineer. Plans, lays out, and constructs wooden units or sectional patterns used in forming sand molds for castings by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sets up daily production patterns for the Automatic Sinto Molding Line.

Fixes flaws on any production patterns.

Modifies existing patterns to adjust for different metal types poured - Stainless, Brass, Steel, Ductile Iron and Aluminum.

Assists the Foundry Engineer in modifying more complex patterns.

Modifies Facility Direct customer tooling that requires specific gating and or runner designs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but may require cross-functional team leadership or facilitation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud from woodworking equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.

Previous experience using hand tools related to carpentry.

Previous experience with measuring instruments.

Ability to use power tools (table saws, belt sanders, band saws) preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent or 2 years minimum related experience and /or training, preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak and communicate effectively with fellow employees and supervisor.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet technologies and 3D printing technology.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
