Section 1
Summary of the Purpose and Objective
The Building & Grounds Keeper is responsible for the upkeep, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance of the interior/exterior building and facility grounds.
Section 2
Description of Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be able to work in harsh environments/outdoors year round
- Responsible for basic plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry repairs which may include (but is not limited to) painting interior/exterior walls/building, drywall installation and repairs/patchwork, flooring, pipes, roof area, office remodels, etc.
- Will maintain grounds throughout year which will include (but is not limited to) mowing, landscaping, snow removal, upkeep/maintenance of parking lot, lights, building, outbuildings, silos, signage, sidewalks, park area etc.
- Will troubleshoot issues with building/ground equipment and machinery as well as perform necessary adjustments and preventative maintenance
- Required to clean up after completion of tasks and assist in maintaining cleanliness of shop area
- Responsible to follow process for utilizing tools and parts and accurately logging data
- Will perform all other tasks as assigned by supervisors and/or managers
- Responsible for following company policies/procedures written or verbal.
- Expected to immediately communicate any concerns or issues to supervisor or manager
Section 3
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position
- Previous experience of at least three (3) years in similar role preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have ability to perform physical work in harsh elements throughout year
- Requires flexibility of wrists and hands, strength and sufficient mobility for walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing/pulling, and lifting on regular basis. Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be able to move heavy objects (100 lbs.) with mechanical device.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for majority of shift on cement floor and/or outdoor terrain
- Must be able to perform the Building/Grounds Checklist job tasks within expected training period.
- Must be able to follow direction and stay on task with little to no supervision.
- Must be able to effectively communicate to colleagues and management.
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills preferred.
- Must be able to safety operate scissor lift, forklift, hand jack, and other industrial equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand the maintenance, manuals, and related documentation as written.
- Must be able to tolerate heights up to 70 ft off the ground and move objects of 100 lbs. using mechanical device.
- Must be able to perform physical essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Section 4
Training (Equipment & Methods)
- Job specific training will be conducted by the designated Trainer(s), managers/supervisors, colleagues, and knowledge experts.
- Required training may include, but is not limited to, lockout-tagout, scissor lift, fall protection, chemical training, confined spaces (consists of pulmonary function testing), ongoing quality, safety and departmental training.
- Team members will be evaluated on job performance in accordance with the Training Program SOP.
- SPC training conducted by designated trainer. Documentation and agenda kept by Quality Control.
- Monthly training of a Safety topic and a GMP topic will be conducted by their immediate supervisor from information provided by the Safety Director and QA Manager.
Section 5
Job Safety Analysis
- Personal Protective Equipment may include: smock, hair net, ear plugs, slip resistant shoes safety glasses, gloves, boots, aprons, or other designated PPE as required by position.
- Will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, known allergens such as soy, wheat, and milk; and extreme weather conditions.
- Will be occasionally exposed to high precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
- Will be regularly exposed to moving equipment and mechanical parts.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection.
- Will consistently be walking/standing on concrete floors, cement, or outside terrain for duration of shift
Section 6
Selection Criteria
- Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience.
- Must have 6 months of work history in the past 3 years to be considered.
- Must not have been terminated from previous employer for attendance or job abandonment.
- Rehire waiting period 90 days.
