Job Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of YWCA Enid, providing strategic leadership and overseeing the organization’s management, operations, and long-term sustainability. Working closely with the Board of Directors, this role advances the YWCA mission while ensuring the agency operates in a fiscally responsible manner. The Executive Director also represents YWCA Enid in the community, and oversees programmatic and organizational operations, staff, fundraising, and community partnerships. Through this leadership, YWCA Enid delivers critical services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking across Northwest Oklahoma.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Board Engagement & Governance

  • Works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to establish strategic goals, policies, and priorities, and to steward the organization’s financial resources to support its continued growth and success.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.

  • Motivates, guides, and recommends specific action plans for programs, budgets, public relations, fundraising, and advocacy.

  • Provides regular reports to the Board regarding organizational operations, finances, program outcomes, and emerging opportunities or challenges.

  • Oversees committee operations to facilitate the successful accomplishment of their goals.

  • Assists with board development, including recruitment, orientation, and engagement of board members.

Operations & Organizational Management

  • Provides strong leadership to staff by serving as a role model, mentor, and motivator aligned with the mission and values of the YWCA.

  • Fosters a positive and supportive organizational culture that attracts and retains high-quality staff.

  • Oversees the management, safety, and maintenance of YWCA facilities, equipment, and property.

  • Maintains emergency preparedness and disaster response plans and ensures staff are trained and prepared to respond.

  • Provides leadership and decision-making during organizational emergencies or critical incidents affecting clients, staff, or facilities.

  • Oversees the administration of and adherence to the organization’s human resources policies including hiring, supervision, training, performance evaluations, and staff development.

  • Maintains effective communication systems throughout the organization.

  • Ensures systems for safeguarding agency records, personnel files, and fiscal documentation are established and maintained.

  • Ensures compliance with all licensing, grant, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures shelter, advocacy, counseling, and prevention services are delivered using trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices consistent with best practices in victim services.

Financial Management & Resource Development

  • Ensures the organization operates in a fiscally sound and sustainable manner.

  • Oversees development of the annual operating budget and monitors financial performance throughout the year.

  • Provides regular financial reports and analysis to the Board of Directors.

  • Ensures compliance with financial reporting requirements, audits, and grant funding guidelines.

  • Leads the organization’s fundraising and resource development strategy, cultivating strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, and grant funders.

  • Identifies and pursues new funding opportunities to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization.

Public Relations & Community Leadership

  • Serves as a confident, articulate, and persuasive spokesperson and primary public representative for YWCA Enid, increasing visibility with community partners, policymakers, the media, donors, and other key stakeholders.

  • Maintains an active and visible presence in the community to promote awareness and support for YWCA Enid.

  • Cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships with community organizations, elected officials, law enforcement, educational institutions, and other partners.

  • Maintains engagement within the national YWCA network.

  • Represents YWCA Enid in statewide advocacy efforts, including participation in the Oklahoma domestic violence coalition and policy initiatives supporting survivors and strengthening victim services.

  • Monitors and engages in relevant local, state, and federal policy developments affecting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

  • Participates in collaborative initiatives that advance the YWCA mission and strengthen the community response to violence.

The Executive Director may delegate responsibilities to appropriate staff and volunteers as needed and will perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Previous leadership and management experience.

  • Experience working within a nonprofit organization is preferred.

  • Experience supervising staff and working with a governing board.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant management, and community partnership development.

  • Experience managing budgets and financial oversight.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to build relationships with diverse community stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the YWCA.

Work Environment: Work is primarily accomplished within an office environment, but does include work and meetings throughout the community, along with related travel. May need to work hours above and beyond typical working hours and be present on site in emergencies.
