QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited university athletic training program
  • BOC certification
  • CPR certification
  • Licensure in the State of Oklahoma
  • Sports performance experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate, effectively communicate, work independently
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Mobility, strength, visual and auditory acuity adequate for immediate response to athletes' needs

SUPERVISES: Student Athletes, Student Athletic Trainers

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to the Head Athletic Trainer and is responsible for assisting with providing "Athletic Training Services" to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer as the liaison between team physicians, parents, athletes, and coaches to ensure that all medical conditions and emergencies are given prompt and proper attention and care.
  • Be available at least one hour a day to middle school athletes for evaluation of injuries and rehabilitation of injuries. Provide coverage for home middle school football and soccer games.
  • Know, follow and enforce all of the O.S.S.A.A. rules and district policies related to athletic injuries.
  • Participate in in-service and professional growth programs to enhance your knowledge of the skill associated with Athletic Training.
  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in scheduling and coordinating the coverage by Student Athletic Training staff for all home athletic events.
  • Submit all necessary and pertinent reports, requests, and inventories according to district and O.S.S.A.A. guidelines and timelines.
  • Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, Head Athletic Trainer, and/or Principal.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.
