QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skill in planning and laying out work; in using the tools of the trade.
- Knowledge of techniques, methods and procedure of the electrical trade / HVAC and of materials and equipment.
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgment to determine needs and maintain physical stamina necessary to perform heavy manual labor.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to obtain a journeyman’s electrical and HVAC state licenses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists electrician / HVAC technicians with electrical and HVAC maintenance.
- Obtains materials and supplies, according to established policies and procedures.
- Assists, or has assistance from, other maintenance personnel as required.
- Perform other maintenance work and duties as assigned.
- Has the ability to understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Work under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring any questionable cases to the supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & CONSIDERATIONS
The employee is continuously exposed to risk of electrical shock when performing the functions of this job and will be frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. Other physical requirements include:
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Bend or twist body.
- Climb ladders, scaffolds or poles.
- Walk for long periods of time.
- Kneel, stoop, crouch or crawl.
- Repeat the same movements.
